Kirk Blake completed his apprenticeship and received his Journeyman Certificate in 2005, bought Ampko Electric in 2006, achieved his Masters Qualification in 2008, and his P.E.C. designation (Professional Electrical Contractor) in 2012.

Kirk is actively involved in Kin Canada through the Kinsmen Club of Stettler. He has held all club positions at least once and is currently serving his 9th term as Treasurer. He has served as Zone D (Central Alberta) Deputy Governor and will be District 4 (all of Alberta and a portion of north eastern B.C.) treasurer three times. In 2020/2021 he will serve as District Governor. Community involvement is important to Kirk and he serves (or has served) on numerous boards including Bar Harbour Camp, Central Alberta Buccaneers Football Club (with whom he still plays competitive tackle football), Stettler's Centennial, and Stettler Minor Lacrosse Association. He also coaches both hockey and football.
